Description of Fault code P0766

SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE D STUCK OFF

Possible failuer P0766

• Shift Solenoid Valve D Stuck OFF
• Lockup Shift Valve Stuck

Diagnostic Procedure using AutoHex II Scan Tool

• A malfunction is detected when there are a difference between the measured ratio of mainshaft to countershaft and the state commanded by PCM/TCM.
• (1) A malfunction is detected when 2nd pressure switch is on when the 3rd-4th gear upshift is commanded.
• (2) PCM/TCM detects neutral position when the reverse is commanded.

Test Conditions using AutoHex tester

• Battery Voltage > 11V
• For condition 1 above , shift lever position is D and lockup is on.
• For condition 2 above, Shift lever position is R
• Start the engine, and accelerate the vehicle until the transmission shifts into 5th gear (with the four speed A/T accelerate until 4th gear) in D position.

Clear Fault codes Conditions

• A malfunction is detected when there are a difference between the measured ratio of mainshaft to countershaft and the state commanded by PCM/TCM.
• (1) A malfunction is detected when 2nd pressure switch is on when the 3rd-4th gear upshift is commanded.
• (2) PCM/TCM detects neutral position when the reverse is commanded.
